LIVE PETITION: Implement daylight saving

To the President and Members of the Legislative Council of the Parliament of Western Australia in Parliament assembled. We the undersigned ...

Draws to the attention of the Legislative Council, that Western Australia is economically and socially disadvantaged by not observing daylight saving time during the summer months.

The last referendum was held over 13 years ago, and the results aren't reflective of current community sentiment on the topic.

Not having daylight saving time in Queensland is estimated to cost the state's economy in excess of $4 billion annually, and Western Australia is similarly impacted due to business inefficiencies and missed tourism and retail opportunities.

As well as the economic opportunity, there is evidence to support health and lifestyle benefits for the community during the previous daylight saving time trial period in Western Australia.

The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council call on the Government to hold a referendum for the introduction of daylight saving time in Western Australia.

And your petitioners as in duty bound, will ever pray.
